Earlier this summer, Highlanes Galleryreceived Interim Accreditation from the Heritage Council, under the MuseumStandards Programme for Ireland.
If you are not familiar with the DroghedaMunicipal Art Collection, for which Highlanes Gallery was developed, aselection of work from the Collection will be on display until 7 October.
The Collection, which holds over 100 works,dating from the 18th century to today was originally developed by artist BeaOrpen, her business man, husband, Terry Trench, and a Museum Committee in 1946.
Works that are on view as part of the current exhibition Eye Level include Mervyn Peake’s Head of a Girl (1950), Mia (2009) by Kate Byrne, Zonck (2010) by Gereon Krebber, St. Paul’s 1945 by William J Leech, and Elsie’s Counter (2013) by Jessica Foley, of which a vinyl recording of the live gallery reading of Elsie’s Counter will be played daily at 1.00pm, or as visitors require.
