Highlanes Gallery – Awarded Regional Museum Exhibitions Scheme 2020

Wednesday, September 30, 2020

Highlanes Gallery has been announced as one of fifteen recipient projects awarded funding under the Regional Museum Exhibitions Scheme 2020, announced by Minister for Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht, Catherine Martin TD, as part of the Wider allocation of funding to help stabilise the arts and culture sector in the context of challenges arising from Covid-19.

The scheme with a total fund of €137,581, sees Highlanes Gallery receiving €10,000 towards a body of research and public engagement around the life and work of artist, Nano Reid. The objective of the project is to enhance the cultural offering of Highlanes Gallery, to encourage greater access to its Collection and highlight specifically the work of 20th century artist Nano Reid – to research, curate and disseminate new aspects of the life and work of an artist.

Commenting, Aoife Ruane, Director of Highlanes Gallery said ‘As one of the foremost 20th century Irish artists and a native of Drogheda, we have a number of Nano Reid works in our collection, as well as Declan Mallon’s archive. We would like to develop further work in the areas of research & curation so that Highlanes Gallery becomes a centre of focus, knowledge and excellence, and synonymous with the life and work of the artist. This research would finally result in the publication of a catalogue and the development of a major project, aspects of which will be a series of talks, which we hope to begin in the autumn, and with the exhibition and catalogue presented next summer.’
