Presented within the context of Helena Gorey's exhibition Understory, and her deep and longstanding connection with place, the rural environment, and the Irish hedgerow, textile artist Violet Shirran leads a session where patricipants make three natural colours from plants and Violet demonstrates how to alter the shade using various natural products.

With materials supplied, and refreshments including Prosecco and Sparkling water available, this workshop exploring colour in nature will be enjoyable if you attend alone or want to bring a friend or colleague.

Artist's Statement - Violet Shirran

'Cloth is at the heart of my work and stitch is my preferred method of mark making, natural dye my preferred colour medium, the slow step by step process of natural dyeing perfectly compliments my sewing. Although my work is conceptual and often involves contributions from followers on Instagram, at its heart my work is primarily concerned with being environmentally friendly.'
