Subvert All Power II is a new publication documenting the independent music, arts, and visual culture that continues to shape Drogheda’s punk and alternative DIY communities. Rooted in first‑person stories, photographs, lyrics, interviews, and archival fragments, the work offers a vivid snapshot of an authentic scene that has always thrived on participation, experimentation, and collective energy.

The project reflects a lineage of grassroots culture in Drogheda — the artists, organisers and audiences who make things happen rather than wait for permission. Across its pages, contributors share memories of gigs, skate spots, zine‑making, art spaces, protest, noise, friendships, grief, joy, fashion, and the messy, generous spirit that keeps punk alive in the town. Highlanes Gallery is pleased to make the publication freely available as part of our support for independent publishing and local creative practice.

The first volume of Subvert All Power appeared in 2016. A decade later, this second volume continues the story, bringing forward new voices alongside long‑standing ones, tracing how DIY culture evolves while holding on to its core values: creativity, care, resistance and community.

Produced and edited by Séamus Nolan, with support from Upstate Theatre Project as well as Louth County Council, and the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport through Drogheda’s Night‑Time Economy Pilot, the publication was coordinated by Rita Hynes as part of Drogheda Zine Fair 2026 and designed by Peter Maybury. It stands as a testament to Drogheda’s living culture — made by many hands, shared openly, and offered back to the community that sustains it.
