Breda Marron: Sticks, Stones & Bones

17 January – 7 March

After spending much of her career making art for public spaces, this exhibition will be her first solo show in over a decade.
Responding to the site of the Upper Gallery, Breda will bring her dexterity and fluency working with natural materials including Willow for this exhibition.

In her practice, Breda is interested in exploring ideas around the interconnection between humans and nature. She is fascinated by how the patterns and imprints of time and movement, of people, wildlife and natural elements are held on the surface and in the deeper layers of the earth.

The new work in Sticks, Stones & Bones has been developed through walking, gathering elements, and responding through drawing and mark making working with watercolour, together with a sculptural installation in three parts.

Exploring the nexus between humanity, the natural world and spirituality, the conceptual and material ideas developed for this new body of work by Breda has been supported by a residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, and Meath County Council Arts Office and Creative Ireland through the Professional Artist Development Fund.
