The Building – Stained Glass Workshop with Julie Duhy

Thursday, April 30, 2020

Light, colour, glass!

The former Franciscan Church, the building that houses/has been developed so respectfully by architect Turlough McKevitt in 2006 to become Highlanes Gallery has so many inspirational elements including its stained glass windows, which are attributed to William MacBride (1880-1962) the principal artist of The Craftworkers, a co-operative studio for artists and craftspeople, established in Dublin in 1919, and responsible for the windows.

Facilitator Julie Duhy considers shape, pattern, composition and colour in this week’s Children’s Video-Workshop.

Workshop Information: Materials to gather
Tinfoil
Wool
Permanent Markers
Gluestick
Cardboard

If you’re working with younger children, view the video in advance to help prepare yourself. It is shorter than a real time workshop which would normally be 1 hour 30 minutes, but you can stop and start the video at stages so that children can take part slowly and reflectively with the session
