Create a captivating Still Life with Julie Duhy – Highlanes at Home

Friday, April 17, 2020

In this session, Julie Duhy opens with an informative and fascinating introduction into the history of art & the Still Life, and invites you to set up and paint your own still life.

Using everyday domestic objects, jugs, bowls, fruit, and maybe items that have a special meaning to you or your family, spend some time setting up your still life. Then, get straight into the practical element, where you can look, draw and paint your still life.

This is a rainy day indoor activity, or a sunny day, balcony, porch, back-yard one. Another idea, why don’t you tape your paintings to a window in your apartment or house, so people waking by could enjoy them too.

If you’re working with younger children, view the video in advance to help prepare yourself. It is shorter than a real time workshop which would normally be 1 hour 30 minutes, but you can stop and start the video at stages so that children can take part slowly and reflectively with the session.
