Children’s Easter Clay Workshop (1)
Thursday 6th April – 11am
Join Maureen Finn for one of two immersive, tactile Easter workshops where your child can express themselves exploring form, shape, texture, mark-making, and where then forms that children create will be fired by Maureen and available to collect from the gallery in the weeks following the workshop.
Clay is a very supple and tactile material, simply playing with clay can stimulate the pressure points in our hands which leads to therapeutic benefits. It is also one of the oldest and widespread art forms and its ancient techniques have remained unchanged and are still used today to form sculptural, decorative and functional work.
Children will use a range of techniques and will manipulate and pinch clay with their hands, and textured items and wooden stampers to create a series of tiles.
About Children’s Workshops at Highlanes Gallery
Workshops are for children aged 5 – 12yrs and charged at €8 per child.
Workshops at the gallery are process-based and explore basic concepts and ideas with children as they are looking. The emphasis is placed on understanding the ideas surrounding the objects. Making objects forms part of that process but is not the only goal of the workshop.
