The Twelve Pins

Sylvia Cooke-Collis

b. 1900 - d. 1973
Watercolour on paper

'The Twelve Pins', painted in watercolour, displays the translucency of the medium. Possibly painted in situ on a trip to Connemara, Cooke-Collis' interpretation of the foreground rocks and distant peaks is more focused on pattern-making than on being a realistic rendition of the scene before her easel.

A watercolour painting depicting rocks and large tufts of grass in the immediate foreground. Mountainous peaks can be seen in the background.
