Still-life with Eggs

Dany Lartigue

b. 1921 - 0000
1953 Oil on canvas

Although mainly self-taught, Dany Lartigue benefited from the encouragement of his artistic family and from the advice of the French artist, Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947). His work shows Bonnard's direction in its treatment of light and colour and the influence of the Post-Impressionists in its composition, exemplified in 'Still-life with Eggs'.

An oil still-life painting of a wicker jug, a glass and a jug of flowers resting on a white table cloth. In the left foreground a bowl holding eggs seats beside a butter knife and three olives.
