Slane Castle, 1849

Anderson Paisley

fl. 1840 - 1849
1849 Oil on slate

Slane Castle, 1849 built in 1785-86, is rendered in the style of Victorian painters in terms of the detailed figuring and typographical accuracy, and it looks quite magnificent in the radiant landscape.

An oil landscape painting showing a large white castle (Slane Castle) in the left middle-ground situated in the middle of wooded area with a meandering river flowing across the right middle-ground. In the immediate left foreground is a woman strolling forwards, while on the far right is the figure of a man sitting on the riverbank.
