Construction and creation!
Our Collection has riches that have charmed and engaged audiences from when they were first made to now and a lithograph titled The Winged Hat by the artist James Whistler is what caught artist Claire Halpin’s attention.
She has taken the focus of the work, a sculptural hat worn by the woman in the work as the focus. She invites you to learn more about the artist and consider constructing, creating and making up to 5 hats/head-gear. And before boys switch off, it’s not just a workshop for girls, with some turbo boosted hats in there too.

If you’re working with younger children, view the video in advance to help prepare yourself. It is shorter than a real time workshop which would normally be 1 hour 30 minutes, but you can stop and start the video at stages so that children can take part slowly and reflectively with the session.
