Open 10:30–5:00, Tuesday – Saturday
Join Community Historian Brendan Matthews in the first of our Heritage Week Talks.
Historical, landscape & portrait artists of early 19th century Drogheda, the Tumalti brothers are very much the forgotten artists of Drogheda; they were active in the town from the later 1820’s and by the mid 1840’s their reputation as artists, sculptors and craftsmen was renowned, and far beyond this Boyne-side town.
Brendan Matthews leads this fascinating talk (outdoors in the courtyard of the former Methodist Church) just close to where the Tumalti’s Studio was once located, at the corner of Lawrence St. and Free School Lane, and across the road from Highlanes Gallery. The Tumalti brothers also carried out a lot of Taxidermy work and a frequent visitor to their studios was the artist Alexander Williams RHA.
