Open 10:30–5:00, Tuesday – Saturday
Join Alanna Hanley for a mark-making workshop focusing on the exhibition, Picturing the Border 1921-2026.
Artist-led gallery-based workshop for teenagers aged 13-18 years
Tuesday 27th October at 1.30pm
Teenagers, join recently graduated artist-teacher-researcher Alanna Hanley and explore the exhibition Picturing the Border 1921-2026 – looking at ideas of people and place and using mark making as the material expression.
Using drawing and mark-making, Alanna explores three fundamental aspects found within the exhibition;
People – Presence, Movement, Gesture
Place – Landscape, Boundaries, Environment
Mark – Line, Texture, Trace
Looking together at the exhibition with Alanna, you will focus and pick out people and place across the range of painting, photography, video and sculpture within the exhibition.
And explore the following:
How a human presence affects an image, and can they be represented without drawing a face?
What physical features construct a sense of place, and can using different marks and repetition create a language?
Explore, engage and express in this informal exhibition with the LSAD/ Highlanes Gallery 2026 Graduate Awardee.
Places are charged at €8 per person (ex-booking fee), with all materials supplied.
