Painting Winter and Christmas

Friday 5 December at 11am

The winter season has enraptured artists and viewers alike for hundreds of years, inspired by the beauty or hazards of snow and ice, of the origin story of Christmas, or of festive celebrations. A lecture by Professor Emeritus Dr Yvonne Scott presents a selection of some of the best-known artworks, from Medieval times to the present, depicting the season, including iconic images by Pieter Bruegel, Fra Angelico, Rembrandt, Claude Monet, and Norman Rockwell.
