Open 10:30–5:00, Tuesday – Saturday
Thursday 14th April, 8pm to 9pm (Online via Zoom)
Don’t miss this Online Talk, 14th April Thursday evening from 8pm -9pm via ZOOM hosted by our ‘WE ARE HERE’ partnership exhibition colleagues – The Golden Thread Gallery – as Tendai Mutambu, the original curator of WE ARE HERE & Songs of the Forgotten Past joins us live from New Zealand.
“The best moving image and film addresses pertinent questions. It can reflect the history of the medium, or give audiences new ways
of seeing the world, and imagining other worlds too. The best moving image often does all these things at once.”
For the original exhibition(s) Tendai curated moving image programmes for the British Council and LUX from which the films in our current exhibition are drawn. He previously visited Belfast and the GTG in 2019 for Outburst Arts. He is a writer, editor, and curator presently working as Associate Producer on Aura Satz’s first feature ‘Preemptive Listening’, Contributing Editor for The Art Paper, and Acting Curator at TeUru Waitakere Contemporary where he is curating a group exhibition on animation in contemporary artists’ moving image (June 2022).
This online event is free to attend, and part of Golden Thread Gallery, Belfast and Highlanes Gallery Drogheda collaborative exhibition partnership. As we enter the final week of ‘our’ WE ARE HERE – a perfect opportunity to meet and hear this curator discuss his prompts, curatorial approach and reflection.
