Parent & Toddler Workshop
Sticks, Stones and Bones – Breda Marron
Tuesday 27th January

Our first parent and toddler art workshop of 2026 is inspired by ‘Sticks, Stones and Bones‘, an exhibition by artist Breda Marron. The workshop invites parents and toddlers to explore, play, and create together using handmade nature brushes, watercolour, and natural earth pigments.

Breda Marron’s work reflects a deep connection between people and the natural world, exploring how movement, time, and life leave traces across the landscape and within its layers. Sticks, Stones & Bones has grown from walking in the landscape, collecting natural materials, and responding through drawing, watercolour, and gentle sculptural forms.

Following a guided tour of the exhibition, Caoimhe will lead families in a hands-on sensory session that encourages curiosity about nature, creativity, and the local environment. Through playful mark-making with watercolour, earth pigments, and handmade brushes, children are supported to explore materials at their own pace, nurturing confidence, independence, and creative thinking.

The workshop is process-led and open-ended, focusing on exploration rather than outcome. Shared creative play strengthens parent and child bonding, offering time to engage, observe, and respond together in the relaxed and welcoming Highlanes Gallery setting.
