Inspired by Laurence Fagan’s – Pen and Ink exhibition
Join artist Caoimhe O’Dwyer for a playful and creative workshop designed especially for parents and toddlers. Together, you’ll explore Laurence Fagan’s exquisite Pen and Ink drawings including his celebrated depiction of the Boyne Viaduct from 1851 and discover the stories they tell of Drogheda’s past.
After a short, family-friendly tour of the exhibition, Caoimhe will guide participants in creating their own versions of the Boyne Viaduct and the bustling town below, using monoprinting techniques.
With simple, tactile materials, families will experiment with shapes, textures, and printing, making individual artworks inspired by techniques used by Laurence Fagan and works on exhibition by contemporary artists in the Collection, exploring the medium of pen, pencil and ink, and a range of printmaking processes.
This gentle, hands-on session is a lovely first step into the world of art for little ones, encouraging curiosity, imagination, and shared creativity between parent and child in the welcoming setting of the Highlanes Gallery.

Do not worry if you are running late or have to leave early – we can facilitate to your needs.
Toilets are closeby with baby changing facilities at Lower Ground Level and our café, Five Good Things is at ground floor level. Buggy and other baby moving equipment stored safely in the gallery.
