Evie Hone, born in County Dublin, crippled from the age of 11 by infantile paralysis, was determined to be an artist. She studied in London and in Paris under Lhote and subsequently Gleizes. She exhibited at the Dublin Painters Gallery and at salons in Paris but discovered her true métier in stained glass. one of her earliest commissions was for Tara Church, Co. Meath. In spite of ill health, she produced a large number of stained glass panels as well as oils and watercolours.
She was elected to the Associate Royal Hibernian Academy (ARHA) and died in Rathfarnham, County Dublin, in 1955.
