Provenance: Crawford Art Gallery Cork
‘West End’, 1953 (Coll. Crawford Art Gallery, Cork) and ‘Western Landscape’ 1951 – 52 (Coll. AIB Art Collection) continues O’Neill’s painterly output during the height of a painting career which, broke with the accepted academic tradition and showed a way forward for modern art in Ireland, with the support of Victor Waddington (the Dublin art dealer) and the Irish Exhibition of Living Art.
