Join William Gallagher for a detailed look of the humble chair through the centuries, inspired by Mary A.Kelly’s current exhibition, CHAIR.

William Gallagher is an independent lecturer in art and art history, who has previously contributed to programmes at the Highlanes Municipal Art Gallery, Butler Gallery, Kilkenny and Wexford Arts Centre via his writing and talks for the Janet Mullaney exhibition catalogue in 2015/2016.

William Gallagher has a detailed history under his name. Having curated at the Glebe House and Gallery in Donegal with the Derek Hill collection, running programmes for both the University College Cork and RHA, and even teaching art history at the Crawford College of Art in Cork, Trinity College and UCD.

Highlanes Gallery is funded by Louth County Council, and the Arts Council, and by Patrons, Benefactors and Friends of the Gallery. Chair: Mary A Kelly has been awarded an Arts Council Touring & Dissemination Award, and is co-produced with West Cork Arts Centre. Two Chairs is presented to coincide with Chair exploring musical conversation.

Highlanes Gallery is open 6 days a week, Monday – Saturday, 10.30am-5.00pm, closed Sunday.
